Neighbourhood Partnerships

What are they?

Neighbourhood Partnerships bring public sector decision making to a local level where local residents can influence how they would like to see their neighbourhood improve.  They meet regularly, and bring together: local councillors, neighbourhood police teams, community groups and local residents to shape services such as street cleaning, park maintenance, local recycling schemes, minor traffic schemes, highway maintenance and community safety.

There are 14 Neighbourhood Partnerships.

How it works

Neighbourhood Forums are led by members of the neighbourhood and held in every local community (or ward). They give local residents the opportunity to raise ideas and suggestions on how to improve their area and a chance to influence how some local public services are delivered.  Each ward has four meetings a year, and incorporate the PACT (Partners And Communities Together) meetings.

Each forum will vary, but most will include:

- A 'You Said, We Did' report back on actions taken.

- An opportunity to raise new concerns or issues.  These are collected from meetings, events, surveys and conversations in all sorts of community settings.
- Agreeing how issues will be taken forward for action.

Terms of reference and financial regulations

Neighbourhood Partnerships have terms of reference which govern the decision making.

The Neighbourhood Committee terms of reference apply to Councillors when they are making financial decisions and are the same across the city and can be accessed here.

Each Neighbourhood Partnership has a terms of reference - these may be different in each Neighbourhood Partnership but are based ont the standard NP terms of reference which can be accessed here.

Each Neighbourhood Partnership must also comply with the NP financial operating framework - which can be accessed here.
